and Innovations...

From the very start, already during the project design phase, the innovative approach has been one of the basic characteristics of WANDA.

The following innovations result from this approach:

  • A comprehensive examination of different legal and technical framework conditions in the Danube riparian countries enables the development of adapted implementation concepts.
  • Legal, organisational and technical innovations comprise test pilot actions for ship waste management in the Upper and Lower Danube countries.
  • Administrative innovation comprises the development of a financing model for oily and greasy ship waste.
  • The transnational approach is an essential feature of WANDA. However, the historically developed uniqueness of each participating country has been taken into account in the project implementation.
