Outputs, Benefits

High Quality Results for the advancement of inland navigation!

The outputs of the project activities aim at sustainable, long-term oriented and integrated results and solutions. The following benefits provide the basis for advancement of inland navigation as an environmental-friendly transport mode:

  • WANDA paves the way for future large-scale and long-term ship collection services along the entire Danube stretch.
  • The project activities contribute to the reduction of environmental risks related to (illegal) ship waste discharge.
  • Skippers navigating on the river Danube, ship-owners and fleet operators will be provided with clear structures and procedures for coordinated ship waste disposal.
  • Authorities dealing with environmental protection, waste management and inland navigation in the Danube region will be provided with concrete results for the policies and national legislations they are implementing.
  • Authorities and stakeholders involved will be able to transfer the knowledge they will have gained and apply it to national follow-up initiatives.

Beyond that, WANDA can contribute to superior strategies of the European Union and the South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme, such as sustainable economic development, territorial cohesion and environmental protection.
